CCI is a capacity building program for faith-based and community organizations that provide services to people 55 and older and involve this population as leaders and volunteers. CCI is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. JVA has served as an intermediary of the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) since 2002.

Grantees will receive monetary grant awards specifically for capacity building activities. Grantees also receive, and are required to engage in, capacity building consulting services and techncal assistance from JVA staff provided pro bono through the support of CCF. The Administration for Children and Families’ capacity building areas include leadership development, organizational development, program development, revenue development strategies and community engagement. The Administration for Children and Families and JVA both agree that capacity building projects involving both monetary awards and capacity building have the greatest outcomes.

Starting on February 9, award winners will receive in-depth group trainings and one-on-one technical assistance. Organizations will be able to self-select from three tracks: social enterprise strategies, health and wellness, and in-depth capacity building.

CCI is additionally supported through JVA’s partnerships with the Center for African American Health, the Daniels Fund, Mile High United Way, United Way of Larimer County, United Way of Mesa County, United Way of Weld County and the Western Colorado Community Foundation.
